3 Main Reasons Why Your Ooze Pen Blinking Green (Fixed!!!)

Why Is My Ooze Pen Blinking Green?

Ooze pens are among the most popular and reliable e-cigarette brands, and operating them is simple and intuitive. However, sometimes the green light can start blinking, in which case, you’ll probably be wondering what’s going on.

This blinking light can be due to several reasons, and if you want to know what the problem is, you’ll need to decipher the number of blinks – so to help you work out what your Ooze pen is trying to tell you, in this post we answer the question, why is my Ooze pen blinking green?

What happens when an Ooze pen is functioning correctly?

Before we talk about why your Ooze pen might be blinking, we need to think about what it should be doing when it is functioning correctly – since the green light is part of its normal operation and is used to give you several messages.

Ooze pens are controlled by clicking the button a certain number of times to activate the desired operation.

If you click five times rapidly within two seconds, it turns the pen on – and five more clicks will then turn it back off again.

If you want to change the temperature, you need to click three times – and two clicks will activate the preheat mod, getting it ready for use.

And the important thing to note about these functions is that each time you click, it will cause the green light to light up once – so if you notice the light blinking once each time you press the button, it means everything is working as it should.

Common reasons for an Ooze pen blinking Green

If the light on your Ooze pen is blinking when you aren’t pushing the button, this indicates there’s a problem somewhere, and the number of blinks tells you what the problem is, so now let’s look at how to work out what issues your pen might have.

Here are the three most common causes.

1. Light blinks 10-15 times – the pen is out of battery

To let you know that your Ooze pen is out of battery and needs charging, the light blinks between 10 and 15 times.

When this happens, you need to plug it into the charger. Once it is plugged in, the light on the pen will light up green and the light on the charger will light up red.

Ooze pens take around one to two hours to charge fully. After the pen is fully charged, the light on the pen will go off and the light on the charger will go green – and this means the pen is ready for use again.

2. Light blinks 4-5 times – there is a connection issue

If the light on your pen blinks 4-5 times, it tells you that there is a connection issue, and there are two main reasons this can happen.

  • Leaking cartridge

The first reason for the light to blink 4-5 times is that the cartridge has leaked, creating a connection issue between the battery and the pen.

However well cartridges are made, they still sometimes leak, an issue that is unfortunate but unavoidable.

When this happens, if some of the liquid gets on the point of contact between the battery and the pen, it will cause a bad connection, and the pen won’t work properly.

The good news, though, is that this is an easy problem to fix.

Simply take a cotton swab, dip it in rubbing alcohol and use it to carefully clean the inside of the pen and the connection point on the battery.

When you have removed all the oil, leave the pen and the battery to dry completely before reconnecting them. The pen should now be ready for use again.

At this point, it’s advisable to change the cartridge for a new one or you risk the same issue being repeated.

  • Irregular cartridge or deformed coil

The second cause of the light on your pen blinking 4-5 times is an irregular cartridge or a deformed coil, and this is likely to be the cause if you can’t see any leakage when you inspect the pen and the battery.

The quick fix for an irregular cartridge is simply to try tightening or loosening it until you find the sweet spot where the connection is made and the pen works.

However, it could be that the brand of cartridge you are trying to use is just not compatible with your pen, in which case, you need to buy a different brand!

If the coil is deformed, it can be difficult to spot visually, but there is a way you can test it.

Simply replace the cartridge with another one you have already used and that you know works well – and if it still works, it means there is a problem with the coil.

In this case, you can try taking the cartridge back to the shop where you bought it because many sellers understand this issue can happen and are happy to provide a replacement.

However, if your old cartridge doesn’t work either, you’ll know this is not the issue.

3. The battery is permanently damaged

If neither of the above issues is to blame for your pen blinking, it could be that the battery is permanently damaged, in which case you’ll need to buy another one.

However, genuine Ooze batteries come with a five-year warranty, so if you have had it less than this amount of time, you may be able to obtain a replacement free of charge.

Other possible reasons for a blinking light on an Ooze pen

The battery or pen is fake

If your battery or pen is counterfeit, it may cause issues with blinking, so you should check its authenticity, especially if you didn’t buy it from an authorized vendor.

Check that the smart charger lights up red while it is charging and then turns green when it is fully charged, and also check that the battery lights up green when it’s charging and then turns off when it’s fully charged.

Other signs to look for are the distinctive grooves on the USB charger, the professional high-quality finish on the pen, the metal casing on the pen, the horizontal dial line and the authentication code above the dial line.

Also, bear in mind that these pens cost around $20, so if you paid a lot less than that, you should suspect that something is not right somewhere.

Unfortunately, if you have bought a fake pen or battery, there’s not much you can do other than throw it out and buy a genuine one!

3 times – short circuit

If the light blinks 3 times, it indicates a short circuit.

20 times – full charge

When the pen reaches full charge, you may notice it blinking 20 times. This just means the charging is done and the pen is ready for use.

Blinking after charging – battery not screwed in correctly

If, after charging, the light continues to blink, it means the battery is not screwed in correctly.

In this case, all you need to do is make sure it is correctly screwed in, and it should work properly again.

Tips for Ooze Pen Blinking Green

  • Buy Res Wipes

Since leaking cartridges is an unavoidable problem, some people prefer to have something handy to clean up the mess whenever it happens, allowing them to get their pen back in working order as quickly as possible.

To this end, Ooze sells specially designed Res Wipes that are designed to clean up resin and wax residue – and they even have one side with scrubber dots on to make them even more effective.

This means if you’re a regular vaper, having a set of these on hand may be a more practical and effective solution than needing to look for a cotton swab and a bottle of rubbing alcohol each time.

  • Take a cart with a damaged coil back to the shop

As we mentioned above, most vendors understand that coils can sometimes be damaged through nobody’s fault. As a result, many will happily replace the damaged cart free of charge, so it’s always worth asking.

  • Only buy from registered sellers

You should only buy an Ooze pen or battery from a registered seller – otherwise, you risk buying a counterfeit product.

If the pen or battery you buy is not genuine, you are at risk of it overheating or breaking. Furthermore, if you buy a fake product and it has a problem, you will not be covered by the 5-year warranty that comes with genuine Ooze products.

Several possibilities for your blinking green light

As we have seen, there are several possible causes for a blinking green light on an Ooze pen, and most of them are normal and relatively easy to fix – especially if the problem is just that your pen is out of battery.

The key to working out the problem is understanding what each number of blinks means – and then working through the possibilities in a logical order to try to find out what is causing your pen to blink.

Are Disposable Vapes Worth Trying?

Disposable vapes have some advantages that make them worth trying. First, they are very convenient since you don’t have to maintain the device or refill it with e-liquid. Just use it and toss it when done. Second, disposables allow you to sample different flavors more easily without a big investment in a vape setup. You can try a variety and see what you like.

However, it’s still best to buy reputable brand disposables, like those from Spiritbar Vape. Well-known brands put more focus on safety and quality. They test their e-liquids thoroughly and use better materials for the device and its components. This gives you peace of mind that the disposable e-cigarette you’re using is well made and safe.
